The “Good” in our name GoodPop isn’t just about the ingredients we use or the way our pops taste, it’s an integral part of our dedication to using our frozen treats as a vehicle to do social Good. On April 16th, a massive earthquake hit Ecuador, leaving 12,000 people injured and thousands more Ecuadorians homeless.
The fair trade bananas used in our Banana Cinnamon pops are grown and processed by small co-op farmers in Ecuador, and in support of the relief efforts for these farmers, their friends and families, we have partnered with World Food Program USA to donate funds directly toward earthquake relief in Ecuador. GoodPop will donate $1 for every case of Banana Cinnamon GoodPops purchased between April 16th, 2016 and May 31st, 2016. We will will also run a fundraising campaign on our Twitter feed. For every re-tweet, GoodPop will donate 33 cents to World Food Program USA—the average cost per person for the U.N. World Food Programme to provide food assistance to survivors of natural disasters like the recent Ecuador earthquake.
With the funds generated by GoodPop and other organizations, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is able to provide food assistance to reach up to 260,000 people in the areas most affected by the April 16 earthquake. WFP is providing assistance in the form of food vouchers that can be redeemed for items such as milk, quinoa, lentils, pasta, and tuna.
Thank you for your support and for joining us in our efforts to do Good for our growers and their families in Ecuador.
